Artemide

Artemide is an italian lightning company which is widley known , they are one of the global leaders of residential illumination sector.

It was founded by de Arquitect Ernesto Gismondi

Artemide is well known for their “The Human Light” philosophy, they became a synonym for design, innovation and the important and famous ”Made In Italy” label. They contributed to the history of international design introducing the models of lamps such as Eclisse, Tolomeo, Pipe, Tizio and so on.

From lamps to the lightning indusrtry, Artemide has covered different aspects of lightning design, the company has created awsome collections that include Tolomeo, Tizio and Logico whose results have been great and have caught great acclaim with costumers and top design critics. There are several othrer collections not so famous but still important like Melampo, Mercury, Talo and Cabildo that have shown similar design brilliance and great success on the market.

Lots of top designers have worked for Artemide such as Ernesto Gismondi (the founder), Karim Rashid, Ross Lovergone Michele de Lucchi and Vico Megistreti, this designers are the ones that have gave Artemide it´s name and fame for their modern designs and introduction of LED lights in designs.

Tizio lamp

Tizio lamp is a desk lamp designed by Richard Sapper in 1972. It won the award of the compasso de oro 7 years after it was created, for it´s great design and ingenieristic innovation it is an ítem part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.

This lamp has several sizes and also colors such as White, metalic grey and a limited edition wich is made in polished aluminiun and titanuim.

The funcionality of this lamp is very simple and gives a pleasent expirience to the user, making it a better product for it´s friendly interfase. It is composed mainly of weights that make posible the balance of this object without the help of any screws like the rest of the desk lamps.

The place and direction of the bulb can be adjustedwith the help of the two counterweights placed on the oposite side of the arm, moving it requires none effort at all. Two other remarcable features of this lamp are the lack of wires wich instead are replaced with the two parallel arms that are used to conduct the electricity to the bulb they are connected with snap fasteners that are also conected to the arms, and the other one is the halogen bulb, which was previously used mainly in the automotive industry. This also reflects the gathering of different concepts and ideas not just from the design field but also from an ingenieristic point of view.
