departure. Rosemary will have peace of mind knowing that a proven dishonest person is not working in her gym anymore. However, the gym will lose a good marketing employee who helps bring in the clients. There will also a decrease in the number of instructors in the gym. But this would not be a problem since many of the classes had only one or two students, and these classes could just be cancelled.

Recommendations:

After considering the possibilities I recommend taking the first alternative. A new employee will be hired to handle non instructor duties. Kate will only handle instructor duties. This is to provide a proper organizational structure to the gym and to separate operation activities and support activities like scheduling and record keeping. This way Kate can focus on what she is good at, which is bringing in clients and being an instructor. The new employee will be in charge of scheduling of appointments and facility usage and basic maintenance and record keeping. He/she will report to Rosemary daily on the revenues and costs incurred. The new employee will also prepare payroll reports which will be reviewed and approved by Rosemary. The new employee will be paid an hourly salary and will have a monthly tiered bonus system depending on how high the net income of the gym is. This is to encourage the new employee to make sure revenue is reported and the bills and costs are kept to a minimum.

For time keeping, the simplest and inexpensive way for tracking, since she probably doesn’t have the funds yet, would be to have a log sheet/book for everyone entering and exiting the gym premises – One log for employees and one for clients. This would be useful for payroll and also for tracking gym usage.

As an additional recommendation probably long term, rosemary can also invest in security cameras. This can avoid theft and can also be used as evidence in case anything happens. This is important because Rosemary has already invested a lot on the gym. This way she can make sure her cash and her assets in the gym are safe. Her gym is located in an upscale community it would probably a requirement for any establishment to have security cameras installed. All for the safety and security of the clients and employees.
