The support of government policy provided Macau a better environment for developing gaming industry. In 2002, the concession for the operation of casino games was granted to six operators, which makes the Macau casino market more energetic and competitive. Furthermore, The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) are founded to assist the government co-ordinate and supervise the operation of casinos. In 2003, the individual travel policy was issued. Increased number of Mainland tourists further promotes the development of gaming industry.

Social

Gaming industry creates a considerable number of job opportunities and relieves the pressure of unemployment in Macau. In the same time, local residents also enjoy the benefits of developing gaming industry through the wealth partaking scheme.

Nevertheless, the casino employees who work in the gaming area are often exposed to second-hand tobacco smoke. This poses potential risks to their health. Other issues concerning about the health and the rights of casino employees also have attracted great attention.

For the five aspects discussed above, I believe that no other Asia city could replace Macau. China is now the second largest economy, and the proportion of Chinese gamblers had become larger and larger among the Asian gamblers. And Macau, as the only place in China where gambling is legal, has the advantages in attracting Chinese and Hong Kong gamblers that any other Asia city cannot matched. Therefore, Macau will still maintain its leading position among the Asia even the world in a long time.
