Unethical treatment of Employees
The Shanks’ case indicates that the Wal-Mart grocery retail might save people money form the sale price, but they also have a negative influence of society. The company’s low-price strategy based on the low costs, and low costs are saved from the suppliers and the employees, which just like the Shanks family. The company even had announced that they desired to hire the healthier, cheaper, and more productive employees. Consequently, the Wal-Mart corporation received many accusations and criticisms of unethical employee’ treatment and discrimination scandals (Sabrina, 2012). A company which has the strong sense of responsibility should not like the Wal-Mart which totally looked forward to the profits. According to Wal-Mart employment policy that regulated the compensation would belong to the company, if the employees receive the money in the lawsuit. This policy is certainly unethical business.
Conclusion
The Wal-Mart Case shows a negative example of ethics business. All companies have the responsibility of the whole society. They need to consider the employee’s welfare because the works devote their life to the company. If a company just focuses on the profits, they definitely will receive many ethics issues, these issues may destroy their business. Conversely, if the employees have good benefits, they will work hard and effectively. An excellent reputation would attract higher level talents, and a pleasant public influence would also attract more customers (Flynn, 2008).
