The concept that I found to be interesting to me was how Daniel and his Friends were kind of taking shots at the traditional ways of the church and its teachings but at the same time, the lives that they were living were very similar to the way of the traditional teachings of the church. Daniel having followers, as well as Jesus did. Daniel going through the punishments that Jesus went through even though they weren’t necessarily actually inflicted but they were symbolically done to him. Daniel having to deal with the challenges of the church and how he still stood up to them even after they said he could not do the play anymore, Daniel dying from the crucification accident after the church tried to stop him, Daniel giving eye sight to the women after he had passed away by donating his eyes to her, him giving the man more life by giving his heart to him and his blood helping many people because it was a universal blood type and lastly is Daniel’s friends or “followers” opening up a theatre in his name and making sure it kept his beliefs still intact with it, just as Jesus’ followers kept his word true to how he wanted it and opened churches in his name.
I strongly believe that the film maker of this movie had the religious agenda to show that Jesus was very much man like and not necessarily divine but still capable of doing great things, he wanted to show that Jesus is still among us on earth and that he is within us or within some people, and that people go through very similar life styles as he experienced when he too was on earth. The film maker can also be making the statement that he was symbolically in everyone and that the church is more of just a symbol of hope for people rather than an actual way of being closer to the lord. We all have the ability to make the lives of the people around us better and to find salvation within ourselves just as Daniel was able to do so to everyone around him.
