Tris, but Jeanine doesn’t know Tris is Divergent, yet. When Tris returned to Dauntless, Tobias, warned Tris that Erudite was planning a war against Abnegation and that they would use Dauntless to fight in it.

Towards the end of the book, Jeanine, leader of Erudite and the antagonist, had Eric, one of the leaders of the Dauntless, inject all the Dauntless with a simulation that would control them. She wanted them to be her army to attack the Abnegation. The reason Jeanine wanted to attack the Abnegation was because they had information that she wanted, but since Tris was Divergent, she was not controlled by the simulation; but her friend, Will, was. He was going to shoot her, but she shot him first, not wanting to die. When Tris got to Dauntless headquarters, to shut down the simulation, there were guards and Tris’s dad had to distract them, and he ended up dying. After Tris escaped the guards, she was greeted by Tobias, who was under a simulation that made his friends into enemies and the other way around.(Roth, 2011, p. 473) The result of Tris not giving up was that she got through to him and he “woke up” from the simulation. Then, together they shut down the simulation.(Roth, 2011, 480)

In conclusion, when Tris became Dauntless, she was faced with multiple challenges; some tough, and some simple. In the end, she met many people, good and bad. She was always the shy, quiet person in abnegation, who followed the rules. Joining Dauntless ; they let her become her true self, at last. Eventually, Tris began to have enemies; Jeanine was the biggest ;becuase she wanted to kill Tris; because she was Divergent. As a final point, Tris defeated Jeanine, with the help of Tobias, and shut down the simulation, ending the war between Dauntless and Abnegation.
