Jabbour (p. 1-2) has explained that pop music involves a number of different styles and forms. A song is defined as pop if it is progressive and is listened to for various decades until the current years cover or form is presented to the listeners. Since the above mentioned reason is true, the pop music is characterized in relation to all the genres of music. Rock songs are generally ranging between the verse-chorus forms around a signature of 4/4. This time lag is highlighted at the point where the relevant beats can be emphasized on. The start of the rock music was when the blues had affected the genres and rock and roll was given birth to. The starting place was America and till now, some of the major singers in the pop rock field are Americans. When in 1960, electric guitars were made and as a result the rock initiated further by the end of that very decade.

Unterberger, (n,p) stated that traditional music that is sung is referred to as folk music. The songs of this genre are sung by the people of a certain community themselves and are played generally among those people as well. Moreover, the songs are usually passed on from one generation to the next generation through listening and performing of a particular song. The instruments that are mad use of include fiddles, concertina, Northumbrian small pipes and penny whistle. Folk songs usually come in two types; one that is the traditional folk music and secondly the modern versions that are formed out of the already sung folk songs. Apart from that, a mix of different music genres with folk is also a part of the above mentioned category. The traditional folk music is the first firm while all other derivations are brought in response to the type of genre and lyrics that are widely demanded.

Scaruffi (n,p) stated that typically, the folk rockers sing songs using the traditional instruments or simply on acoustic guitars. However, there are other forms of instruments that are brought including, electric guitars, mandolin, harmonicas and even lap steel. Over the years, folk music has reached a level where the songs when tuned on the road act a source of story telling narrations. This not only comes up as friendly radio music but is also calming to some people. The folk singers had always been proud of the fact that there songs are original, however in the early 1964; this concept was whitewashed by the addition of rock into the folk genre. People started enjoying the ‘rock’ factor and folk was merged with rock after all. The lyrics of the folk music were often romantic and story like while the genre of rock on the other hand was totally opposite. Even though the two genres had nothing in common, the world appreciated this mix up of genres over the years.
