alternative. This next article used in my first global perspective was named “Cars and Global Warming: Does Idling Your Car Affect the Environment?”. This article main claim of this article is that idling is the new ongoing problem of harmful emissions being given off into the ozone layer thus causing global warming. This article consists of ways that we can stop like turning off the engine when not moving your car for longer period of times and pulling into the parking lot at fast food restaurants instead of idling in the drive-thru. This article also gives the problem of why idling is becoming a major deal as in drive-thru lanes at fast-food restaurants, traffic in big cities, and pre-heating your cars on winter mornings. The article, “Cars and Air Pollutions”, main claim presented is how petrol and smoky vehicle exhaust is giving off carbon dioxide and also particles named soot and how it horribly affects the environment. This articles also points out how these harmful affects could affect the future of the ozone layer and the global warming problem we currently have.

The article, “Could self-driving cars help the environment?”, sets up my second global perspective with information of one alternative that could possibly be a savior for our environment. This article tells about the new technological advancement being produced by Google named self-driving cars and how they could potentially remove the problem of the harmful emissions being given off into the ozone layer. The main points of this article consists of how this new technological advancement will not only protect our environment, but will also be a safer way to get around claiming this will cut down the number of car accidents around the globe. The article draws the conclusion that this alternative in self-driving cars will be seen as the savior of our future and protector of our ozone layer. The next article backing up my second global perspective is named, “How Do Hybrid Vehicles Impact the Environment?”. The main point or claim of this article is to show that the development of hybrid vehicles in attempt to reduce harmful emissions into the ozone layer. The article draws the conclusion that, with a broad range of technology that we have installed within hybrid vehicles, that they are clearly one of the best substitutes one could ask for when trying to build a better environment. The article, ”Environmental Benefits of Public Transportation”, presents the benefits of the alternative public transportation brought up in my second global perspective. The main point of this article shows off the many benefits cities with big populations and are known for having heavy traffic can cut down on the amount of the air pollution being given off within their city. This article gives statistics that show how cities that have a public transportation systems such as trains or buses and how much air pollution that is in their atmosphere. This article’s conclusion is that not only does public transportation can help save the larger cities economically wise but most importantly environmentally wise.

After analyzing articles from both global perspectives, I have come up with my solution for this global issue. Agreeing with the second global perspective, there are many technological advancements being implemented into the world as we know it. The future holds a world full of hybrid vehicles, self-driving cars, electric cars and more citizens using public transportation will result in saving our ozone layer from destroying. The ozone layer is important when it comes to life on Earth and with the new technological advancements being presented in our near future. The only problem I see with this “future” of transportation is the availability of these new hybrid and self-driving vehicles. Seeing that these new technological advancement are deemed to be the safest and most environmental friendly vehicles ever, that means that their prices will be quite expensive for everyone to obtain this vehicle. Even though this will prevent the heavy amount of air pollution occurring within the larger cities in the world, many won’t be able to afford this type of transportation.

In conclusion, the way transportation affects the environment is a major global issue. Between the harmful emissions of CO2, the largest contributor to greenhouse climate change, becoming one-third of the air pollution issue to the act of idling which also contributes to the air pollution in a major way. All of those components that harmful to the ozone layer is putting our own life in danger. The ozone layer is the most important thing when it comes to protecting life on Earth. The ozone layer is a layer in Earth’s atmosphere which contains high concentrations of ozone. This layer absorbs 93 to 99 percent of the sun’s high frequency ultraviolet light, which is potentially damaging to life on Earth. So if we continue to ignore our environment and continue to send off these harmful emissions into our atmosphere, we can literally drive ourselves into extinction. But if we take investment into our new future of transportation such as hybrid vehicles and self-driving cars and if more citizens in the more populated cities of the world started to use their public transportation system more, then the world’s ozone layer would be saved from destruction. According to many automobile companies, within the next decade these problems with the ozone and the dangers of extinction of human life on Earth should disappear or become nearly irrelevant with many of these companies producing and innovating these new hybrid and smart vehicles. After going through the research and analyzing my global perspectives presented, my answer to the formative question, “are we driving ourselves into extinction?” , is that we are on the verge of driving ourselves into extinction. However, with the new technological advancements being presented and shown in the future, such as hybrid and smart vehicles and also the addition of more usage of public transportation systems in more populated cities, we have the opportunity to not drive ourselves into extinction and save our ozone layer from total destruction.
