I believe that using the mixed – ship representation electoral system would enable the large Canadian constituencies to find equal representation in parliament. The current electoral system only allows the representation of a whole constituency with one party. However, using the MMP system will give all the Canadian voters in every constituency an equal chance to be represented by their party in the parliament.

The large number of wasted votes that are caused by the current voting system has caused loss of confidence in the current electoral system by most Canadian voters. If I had to align all voters with wasted votes, the list would add up to very many voters whose opinions might create a huge difference in the representation of their respective constituencies. According to the summary of the articles about the mixed – ship representation electoral system, I believe that this system would be able to prevent the issue of no representation.

Most of the supporters of different political parties in Canada were born in support of those parties. Most of the political parties in Canada are founded and built on values that determine the support of theirs. In my opinion, the values of every of the constituency are important for the general development of an ethical society. However, these values can only be adhered to during the formation of state policies if the political party at least has representation in the parliament. I believe that using the mixed – ship representation electoral system will be able to give all of the constituency an equal chance for their values to be considered during the formation of state policies. I believe that this can help to integrate all society values and come up with a more cohesive society for all its s.

However, the introduction of the MMP system in Canada will force the expansion of the legislature. Currently, the parliament has fixed seats for only the elected s from all the constituencies. The introduction of the mixed – ship representation electoral system will mean that the s who obtains seats through the proportional representation method is an extra addition to the legislature. The expansion of the Canadian legislature and all party representation will have to change the policy-making process. Currently, Canada uses the pluralism system in which the policies that receive the majority vote during the billing process proceed into laws. However, the introduction of proportional representatives will mean that the policies were made through a careful evaluation of the policies of all the parties. Despite the above inconveniences, I still believe that the importance of introducing the MMP system still overweighs its cons. I, therefore, strongly suggest that Canada should consider adopting this electoral system.

Conclusion

The two articles provide exclusive information about the benefits of the MMP system. Due to the increase in the campaign for democracy, the mixed – ship proportional representation system is the best. Although most countries have held on to their traditional electoral systems, many others are currently undergoing reforms to introduce more convenient systems like the MMP. It is however also important for the appropriate measures to be taken to reduce the inconveniences of the current MMP system in the future.
