In conclusion, Veblen’s theory of conspicuous consumption seems to be more alive than ever.
The goods and services that individuals purchase are getting more expensive by the day and social media provides the perfect source to imitate the leisure class and to make sure that everyone on this planet takes notice of their ‘differentiated’ lifestyle. Currently, president Trump has been in office for nearly four weeks and he already made some unpresidential decisions. Some people even call his decisions president unworthy. Before his presidency, he had (or maybe still has) an enormous wealth. Given his controversial decisions, many people start wondering why he became president. Did he become the most powerful man in the world as his state of happiness disappeared before running for president?
