The most appealing attachment theory to parents would have to be undoubtedly hands down, the Secure attachment theory. This is the best most positive way to raise a child no matter what type of culture or background you are from. It provides the very best for your growing infant in so many aspects. It will help with them feeling comfortable when you provide a good environment to learn this huge place called the world. Infants need a nice secure place to live in that is quiet for when they are sleeping/napping. Environmental concerns become a factor also such as being bale to have heat for the winter to keep them warm and comfortable to the summer the house needs to be cool to keep from getting too hot, infants are still trying to get temperature regulation in check and can get cold when the parent is hot even and can go the opposite also.
The best advice to give parents is to start making a secure place to stay such as having a separate room for them to have a place for a crib and to make it a good safe place such as making sure that the electrical outlets have caps in them to even having a gate ready before they even start walking so you do not have to run around when you most need it. Even making the rest of the house secure such as the doors and even windows having screens in them especially if the room is on a second floor or higher. I know these type of things seems pretty worthless to do even before they are born but it helps with the parent to get into a caregiver/mother father role much easier for the delivery of your child. Always making sure that you have the proper things for the infant to sleep in and to help them sleep on their back till they are older to roll over on their own is what is called sleep sacks. We give parents two of them upon being discharged from Children’s hospital. We utilize them and what is called dandleroo’s which are more for a infant that is in a giraffe isolator bed so they cannot move around. Getting back to secure attachment one other huge help with an infant is a boppy pillow, not only can you use it to breast feed with, but also to put the child on their tummy when they are awake, it provides a nice comfortable feeling for the baby. The most important thing for a baby is to make sure they are being fed and getting enough nutrition for all over growth when they most need it. Where it means the most is to provide the very best positive atmosphere starts with interacting and holding your baby as much as you can when they are awake. Even doing skin to skin contact makes the infant feel much more comfortable and will have a better feeling with being more attached when they need it most. Playtime with rattles and toys even having mobiles above their bed helps with soothing them to nice calm music for them to sleep or fall asleep to can mean so much also. The smallest things that you do for your infant mean so much more than worrying about having the very best of everything possible.
