In order to test the hypothesis, students were asked to complete a grade survey in regards to their quality of work, deserved grade and received grade. A t test compared the quality of work to received grade. In addition to the t test comparing the quality of work to expected grade.
One hundred and eighty five students surveyed their grades. A t test compared the quality of work to their received grades as can be seen in Table 1, the t test confirmed a significant difference, rating their quality of work closer to average (m = 2.75, SD = 0.86), while their actual grade showed (m = 3.31, SD = 0.47). The t test also revealed a significant difference in quality of work vs to their expected grade as shown in Table 2, participants also rated their quality of work closer average (m = 2.75, SD = 0.86) while rating their expected grade as (m = 3.44,SD = 0.84). Results in this test revealed that there was a significant difference to indicate the presence of grade inflation, t (184) = 16.03, p t (184) = 14.14, 9.
