It’s interesting to notice how Arendt thoughts are still of primary importance nowadays. In fact , if we look at Palestinians or even more Syrians, we see countries where the fundamental right of citizenship is not granted to their people.
The world refugees is one of the most used on Newspapers of the Western world today, because we have more and more people seeking asylum from this “civil war” countries.
The problem is that Political forces are currently moving to a wrong direction, not only not giving the needing help to these refugees ( not from economical point of view but mainly from a human “citizenship” rights one) but there are also more and more politics man, even in dominant positions, that pushes to “kick away” the foreigner,
The world should keep an eye open to the words of Arendt and understand what will happen by leaving these people without the right of belong to a community. Someone could say that we are doing enough by granting them the “modern-world” human rights ( mainly moral ones) but they don’t understand how much these moving homeless mass will keep increasing in the years if no one will take them inside and its anger will become bigger and bigger.
The main risk of these situation is that one day the mass of “minorities” and “stateless” will become so big that they could realize to be able to subvert the situation, creating a bloody political and even worse physical civil war against the governments to obtain their rights.
The main lesson to take from Arendt text is so to avoid as much as possible to behave like the past to not risk new wrong divisions of countries after new revolutions that will only increase the problem of lack of human rights around the world, mainly and surprisingly in the Western one.
