Another example is the recent development of Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in the Jurong district. Within that lush area lies Genting Hotel, a new development too, along with the various mega malls as well business hubs. With the plan for a Singapore to Kuala Lumpur high speed railway, it will see Jurong East MRT Station as the terminus (Saad, 2015). This connectivity and accessibility lies a potential influx of medical tourists from Malaysia. The convenience of lodging, shopping and finance are within a stone’s throw from the hospital. Consumers can patronize within Singapore’s medical fraternity with easy reach.

3 Conclusion

Singapore’s keys to success and longevity in the medical tourism industry lies in research and development as well as collaborations with necessary entities. This enhances its reputation as a diverse yet synergetic medical hub. However, even with all of its achievements and international accolades, this industry cannot afford to be stagnant. With highly competitive rival markets in Thailand, India and South Korea, the challenge will be enhancing as well as innovating on its present resources to re-create a dynamic industry where the future holds an abundance of opportunities.
