A prominently occurring thing that happened between entrepreneurs with such success was the contact between the industrialists and their corporations. Collisions made the occasions worse and suppressed economy. It was only a while until the steel industry cooperated with the expansion of railroads and created the ultimate monopolistic collaboration. They intentionally knocked down their competition to rise as head of the industry.

While people say that these extremely experienced entrepreneurs sold their products in low prices to the public because of the amount being produced, a handful of these entrepreneurs made their riches off their manipulation and careful investments in other corporations; the demand in products also took an affect on their income. The demands were high and so was the price.

Rockefeller was also in this circle of successful businessman that managed to buy their way into wealth and prosperity. Rockefeller made secret agreements with the railroad company to ship his oil in return for cheaper prices and then used the 1873 recession to wipe out his competitors. As a result, in 1890 the U.S. Congress passed the Sherman Antitrust Act. In ways this is actually much similar to how Microsoft has monopolized the computer software industry by eliminating competition and using questionable means of obtaining their place on the hierarchy of corporations.

With the new technologies these industrialists brought to the post Civil War era, they simply shaped present America by deceiving the public and providing a new system for the industrial market.
