In 1969 40% of the United States labor force was women, given the fact that most of these were secretaries, teachers, waitresses, and nurses (Zinn 506). Women were starting to make their mark on the United States, and being independent and able to support yourself was becoming bigger and bigger. Even the women who did not have jobs and chose to stay at home with the children, cook, clean, etc. Were being treated more fairly and beginning to be more respect. Which in my opinion is such a true statement, women who are stay at home moms don’t get nearly enough credit from their families, especially their husband. But nowadays people are starting to become more aware of the fact that these are the women who raise the kids who could change our futures, find a cure for cancer, build the first flying car, whatever it may be; these women were and still are the backbone to our future.

Both Native Americans and Women alike went through a lot of rough times during the 20th century, especially during the civil rights movement. But they have persevered and have gotten closer to helping the rest of the world create equality. My hope is that these subject will be talked about more in K-12 schools throughout the United States, to educate the children and help them to never make the mistakes we have made in the past.
