go hand and hand. Those hands are what connect and keep Americans together.

A final quality of an american is being hardworking. They have a deep determination to accomplish more than even sometimes they believe. There is a hidden drive and passion in Americans to exceed expectations and to transform not only themselves but the world in which they live in. The lyrics from “ 40 hour week” demonstrate the character behind Americans “ There are people in the country who work hard everyday, not for fame or fortune do they strive, but the fruits of their labor are worth more than their pay and it’s time a few of them were recognized” (Alabama L 1-4). Those words show that regardless of being recognized, Americans will continue to work because they know they are working towards a better future for not just themselves but those around them. Americans desire to become the best that they can be as individuals. Americans are not afraid to make a difference by putting in the extra hours. In “ What Is An American” it states “ Here individuals of all nations are melted into a new race of men, whose labours and posterity will one day cause great change in the world”(P.2). Americans work hard because they know in the end it will pay off.

Americans can be classified and described in thousands of ways. There are not any specific categories that every American will fall into but there are characteristics and traits of those who truly represent what it means to be an American of the United States.
