They even added the short phrase “Thoughtful Through and through” to attract the customers by forming a connection with the original “Thinker” by Auguste Rodin and showing their effort of thoughts by imitating Rodin’s Thinker to the Mechanical thinker. The way the different body parts of the Thinker were compared to the machine parts of the car was satirical. The base of the statue, the rock is compared to the tires, which is the base of the car. The car seat to the body and the rest of the body to the rest of the machine parts. The way the mechanical parts of the car are aligned as the thinker shows the effort of the Honda company in making the car using their thoughts. I feel the parody shows that, as time changes, thoughts change. Hence, the way people think also changes. As generations passed, people have become more thoughtful that they resulted in such mechanical thoughts for their promotions using the famous art work.
The short phrase “Thoughtful, through and through catches the customers who are career focused and highly ambitious. I feel the parody is a very good thoughtful business strategy. This advertisement not only attracts the art lovers but also attracts humorous people. I feel the ad buster is so eye-catchy. If I was the customer of Honda I would be influenced by the advertisement poster which is the parody of the famous art work. This parody emerges the thinker man as a mechanical thinker.
Thought it is a thoughtful advertising strategy, this parody may not be accepted by a few art lovers. They might find it as an insult to the original work of the great artist Auguste Rodin. Though the parody is not intentionally made to criticize the famous art work, it may have mixed opinions. The parody may have a positive as well as a negative impression. It is not necessary for everyone to have the same opinion. But I feel art parodies are some good ways of promotions not only for the present advertisements but also for the original art works. It is a good way to make the younger generation aware of the famous art works.
