She needs to be herself, and stay independently. She wants to explore her social life outside home and feel what other girls of her age do when they are away from their parents. From the story, “Moira had wanted to go to an all-night party with a boy she just vaguely recognized as had drifted through the house two or three times.” She has two situations that determine her lifestyle. First, she is brought up with a single parent who is working tirelessly for her success. Secondly, she recalls of the kind of relationship between her father and the long gone mother. This was based on divorce but not death.
In conclusion, there are several questions that are raised about the story, climbing Saturday. These are about the existence of Moira’s mother, and the response is a divorce case. This is justifiable as Barry lives up a life of a single parent to his daughter. Trembling on the cliff also has a meaning to real life situation; it implies that Barry is not a brave man who can face challenges in life. However, by climbing the cliff, it shows that he cares about her daughter and always wanted to rebuild his relationship with the mother to avoid cases of distress to the young girls. Moira also started to rely on her own choices and decisions, and tried to practice some things without Barry’s knowledge. However, her deeds become known and give a reflection of worries and fears to her father, Barry.
