I made. I could hear the other driver get out of his truck and slam the door. I tried getting out but I couldn’t, the door was stuck. Gasping like a fish out of water, I sat there for a second trying to catch my breath.

          

           I noticed a man’s voice in the background, “Oh my gosh! Are you all ok?” my voice was filled with fear and sadness as I tried to respond. I pushed against the car door with hard force hoping I could get it to open, it barely budged. I then tried the passenger side, and luckily it opened, I slid out only to see fragments of my car scattered all over the ground. As I began to approach the front of my car, I caught eyes with the driver of the other vehicle. I realized that I knew him; he too went to my school. I had never been in a wreck before, and I honestly didn’t know what to do, I was too shook up to think properly. I managed to ask him what we were supposed to do, and he recommended we call the police. As my call was directed, the dispatcher asked me many questions. My heart sank deep down into my stomach as I dialed my mom’s number; I knew it was something she had always feared. Standing there waiting on the officer and my mom to get there felt like a lifetime. Finally the officer arrived. He asked me multiple questions that I nervously answered. My mom arrived just as I was done with questioning, and started to get me ready to go. We finally made it back to her vehicle and made our way to the hospital.

          

           Having that car accident made me realize just how valuable life is and that it can be taken away in the blink of an eye. It’s even easier to be taken away driving a vehicle. One little mistake can really hurt you. I was so lucky that I was alright, and that I lived. It could have been a lot worse. I will never forget the time I woke up lying on the steering wheel, as panic filled my mind.
