Over time the plot developed every time we got a peek into Charlie and Aunt Helen’s past. The way Chbosky integrated in all the details that made up the plot was very resourceful, “When I fell asleep, I had this dream. My brother and my sister and I were watching television with my Aunt Helen. Everything was in slow motion. The sound was thick. She was doing what Sam was doing. That’s when I woke up. And I did not know what the hell was going on”(204), it does not specifically say what happened, but it can be presumed that Aunt Helen molested Charlie when he was little. This would explain why his memory of it was repressed before, because he was afraid of what might happen if anyone found out. It connects all the details that were said, even at the start of the book, for example how “I will not say who. I will not say when. I will just say that my Aunt Helen was molested”(89-90), connects to, “I think about what my three cousins, who are Aunt Rebecca’s children, will turn out like. One girl and two boys. I get sad, too, because I think that the one girl will probably end up like my Aunt Rebecca and the one boy will probably end up like his dad.”(87). Aunt Helen was molested and she turned out like the person who molested her because she was emotionally sick and scarred from when it happened to her.
