Origin of the Report

We are doing this term paper for MGT 425 (Manpower planning and forecasting), a major course by BRAC Business School. Through this report we want to find out the alignment of HR planning with organizational planning and some basic and important HR functions. This will provide an opportunity for us, the students, to link theory with practice. The topic of this report is “The linkage between the organizational plan and the HR Plan of M&J group. We have tried our level best to do the report.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of this report is to compare the theoretical idea learned in the class to the practical world. It will help us to increase our basic knowledge of practical field. Again, it will teach us what is expected in terms of professional behavior. Moreover, it will help us to know how HR is actually functioned in an organization.

Scope

The term paper is based on how HR functions and forecasting process works in terms of theoretical point of view and the practical use of it. However this report will help us to learn the practical knowledge about corporate works.

Limitation

To get a perfect desired answer to any report research has some limitation. For our project we had limitation too.

- We know that very company has some confidential information that they don’t want to share with everyone. M&J shared the most basic information to us.

- The data collection was very hard because relevant data sources were difficult to find.

- Another important factor was the time limitations. Since it is the end of the semester we had a hard time to complete the entire projects all together.

- Because of the page limitation, we had to incorporate limited number of information.

- The company did not allow us to have any interview with the core employees.

Methodology

In order to develop a formulated term paper, well-structured methodology of data collection is needed to be used. For our report we focused on both the Primary & Secondary data collection sources.

Primary Research: The primary data and information have been collected from the Head of human resource department Mr Gazi Munir Uddin of M&J group. We interviewed him and collected data from them. He gives us much information which is really helping us.

Secondary Research: Research was conducted using library and the web to find out the books, articles etc. which were helpful to the research. However, Basic data and other relevant information have been collected from the website of M&J group and various publications, journals and newsletters.
