Another discussion that arises within the context of the problem in hand, is the question regarding the rights of the animals, whether they have them or not. The truth is, animals are entitled to rights, just like humans, such as but not limited to, the control of their own existence, as well as the demand to escape any time of pain or grief. When discussing the topic of rights within the animal kingdom, it is vital to understand that most animals do not get to use their rights, as humans take the driving seat, and just do whatever they believe is best for both parties. Adding on this point, the animals that get to enjoy their rights, are the ones that their owners share the most love towards, this means that there are discriminations towards the animal race, as most humans put their values first, making the animals rights a dependable variable. Humans should always be as helpful and nurturing as possible towards the animals, meaning, we should care for them, save them from any grief or hurt, make sure that they are not used as experimental objects, and most importantly, they should never be taken advantage of, for selfish benefit. Having this in mind, we can conclude that, KFC, despite many of their changes in an attempt to be more ethically correct, the main reason why there was a campaign formed in the first place, was due to the lack of measures protecting animal welfare. This problem arose, from the fact that, organizations like KFC, tend to concentrate more on the financial aspect of the firm, which relates to making a profit, being more efficient and reducing costs, as much as possible.
When analyzing the whole debate, we can conclude that, PETA took the most impactful approach, or at least they used the method, that they thought would create the most chaos, and alarm the world of the issue. Despite the fact that, KFC has no direct control over what their subcontracted companies do, the truth is, harm is being done to those animals, and something had to be done to eradicate these unethical activities. Fighting for a good cause, is something all companies should try and do, as it does not only promote their brand image as a whole, but also due to the fact that, it gives self-efficacy to the ones involved in the process of doing good. Finally, it is also important to highlight the need for humans to be more attentive to animal related issues, and that humanity should encourage good practices for a sustainable environment, which include all surrounding ecosystems, since at the end of the day, without the healthy function of these systems, our own, will end up failing.
