Motor Corporation, Japan in year 2004, the public perception towards Proton cars suffered due to reported poor product quality control and non-descript designs. Moreover, the most widely known of window problem of Proton cars are still consider to be the biggest weaknesses of Proton cars up till now that prove Proton have a lack of quality.

Second problem faces by Proton is a poor technologies enhancement. As mention above, since the discontinuation with Mitsubishi Motor Corporation, Japan the public perception towards Proton is suffered in addition of a poor design of Proton car. Therefore, it is believed that the collaboration with the credible partner may help Proton to not only improving their quality of product but also improving the car performance. The collaboration with other partners also could lead to improving in technologies improvement that also could gain local trust toward the Proton cars.

The third problems face by proton is limited funds to conduct Research and Development. As Proton are still considered to be the small producer of cars compared to the other multinational cars producer, the cost of Proton to conduct their research and development are relatively high with additional of limited funds that Proton have it would be difficult for Proton.

Therefore, Proton should make collaboration with foreign company as the collaboration could lead to an advantage to Proton. Proton could gain benefits of having high technology advancement and could be able to penetrate foreign market. With the collaboration, Proton could gain benefits of technology sharing with the credible partners that enable Proton to enhance their technologies and design of cars. This could lead to improvement of the quality and design of Proton cars and will lead to customers trust and satisfaction towards Proton cars. Moreover, with collaboration with other credible partners, Proton could take an advantage to penetrate foreign market with a good quality and design of cars. As overall, the collaboration could bring more benefits towards Proton development in the future.
