7. What could go wrong during this project that would hinder its successful completion? What can McClelland do to prevent these situations from occurring?

The biggest thing that could go wrong is McClelland not meeting his goal of fitting everything in just 25 days. However, the project could be deemed a failure if Mr. Villanueva can’t make his appearance from the public image standpoint. As a backup plan, McClelland should keep the day of celebration, as it's far better to shorten the project plan a bit to reduce the risk of being late, even at the cost of more up-front costs and higher labor loadings.

8. Will this drive completely solve Parout’s image problems? If so, support your reasoning. If not, what steps could be taken by Parout to make a more permanent change in its image issues?

This drive alone will definitely not solve Parout’s image problems. Doing nothing to follow up on a successful drive will make the original achievement ring hollow and will make Parout’s intentions look like they were strictly for PR reasons. Projects like these have to become the norm, rather than an outlier. Corporate Social Responsibility should not be a box to be checked off; rather, it should be a point of emphasis for Parout and large companies like it. After the drive, Parout should keep its customers and all those who participated in the drive up informed about how their generosity changed the lives of the bone marrow recipients. Also, the “face” of the drive that was chosen during the first step should remain a focus of Parout’s CSR outreach.
