An entrepreneur must know how to manage day to day activities and must monitor and evaluate his actions regularly. Mr. Iqbal said it is also very important to give some time to own self and introspect to probe deeper into own self to know what we want to do and what we want to become to bring more clarity in our mission and vision and thus more clarity in our goals of the business.
Mr. Iqbal also described the role of entrepreneur in society. He said an entrepreneur must add value not only in his product and services but also in his society. He explained that our actions should be aimed at betterment of society and we must earn benefits by benefiting society. Like, Dubai Mall is providing Mr. Iqbal and his partners with huge profits but it is aimed at giving convenience to people of Sukkur.
But above all risk taking is the trait which differentiates an entrepreneur from rest of others Mr. Iqbal made us to realize this. It is truly said ‘no pain, no gain’. An entrepreneur must be comfortable in taking risk. Because there are times when you have to put everything at stake to achieve higher level of success, so an entrepreneur must take risk to earn more profits, to have more customers, to start a new venture or to gain a new experience.
In interview with Mr. Zahid Iqbal we realized that for being an entrepreneur we need not to know the rocket science or the complex logarithm rather we must have basic education, knowledge of the market and the guts to do something new and different.
The very honest thing that we learned in this interview assignment is what we read in books and discuss in class is really being implemented in the real world. While interviewing Mr. Iqbal we were surprised to find him telling us all theories that we study in class. He has never been to college yet he was telling us what our instructor tells us in class but in a different language, that is, without proper terms and in his own jargons. This thing really surprised us and we were happy to find the answer of most probing question, that is, “Sir why we are studying this theory”.
We also learned some sort of teamwork in this assignment. As it is said, there are 4 billion people in this world and they are different in 4 billion ways, so we class mates are different from each other in term of knowledge and skills, in terms of thinking and in terms of priorities. But we had to tolerate each other and each other’s point of view to successfully complete this assignment. So we did and so we are successful. ☺
