Six Sigma operates under two methodologies that include; the DMAIC which is used in projects meant to improve already existing projects. And DMADV for new projects expected to create new products or new process designs [f](Tolga et al., 2007). The DMAIC five stages include; problem definition where customer and project objectives are specified. The most important aspects of existing projects are measured and relevant data collected in the second phase. Data is investigated to find out variation cause and look for the cause of the defect in the third period; improvement is effected based on the current data analysis and Poka-yoke and standards are set, and a pilot run is made to ascertain process capacities. Finally, put control systems in place for future correction of deviations from the target. It may include the use of production boards, statistical control processes, and continuous process monitoring (Tolga et al., 2007). [g]

The DMADV method works in five phases. They include; design and define objectives that match customer [h]demands and organization strategy. Identify and quantify features essential to the product quality, capacity of production process and risks involved. Make analysis and develop alternatives and create designs and do evaluations to get the best; create design information and plan for confirmation of the model; finally, conduct a pilot run and carry out implementation process and give it to employees (Raisinghani et al., 2005). [i]

Finally, when implemented Six Sigma it can help the organization achieve customer needs and group objectives without much strain. The company will reduce risks associated with defects and offer motivation to its employees. Overall operation costs will go down and organization because random and repetitive processes will be eliminated.
