5. It is closer to an assembly line since there is a low variety in patients. Besides, the requirement for labor content and skill is not so high. The volume of patients flow for each day is relatively high and can increase more if the hospital can offer more capacity. The operation is standardized and each patient receives the same kind of operation.

According to Doctor Shouldice(2005), all patients should go through the three-day process and their schedules are roughly the same except if they come on Friday. Therefore, there is a low flexibility in operation because each patient is scheduled to receive the surgery after the day they are examined. In addition, as for speed, the average time for each operation is 45 mins, compared to that of 90 mins in other hospitals.
