Further, customers of Royal Hotel, as said are high level executives. Thus, in my opinion their priority is best performance at any cost. If better quality can be achieved by spending more money, Royal Hotel have that class of customers which can spend for quality. Therefore, again Wiztech’s “driverless printers” take lead, leaving Canon’s “industrial strength” machines behind.

- Can you quantify such advantage?

Fax machines still play an important role in today’s world. This is because, there are many convenient and quick ways of transmitting digital information but for hardcopies of information set, a quick way of transmission is still a fax machine. Empowering these machines can be one of the factors, which helps WizTech in taking lead in the market.

First of all, a fax machine is globally accepted and strengthening its service is in high demand. Some other advantages which Wiztech’s “driverless printers” hold in this context are:

- Maintenance: according to text, Wiztech provides free backup while main printer is out of service. In this backup service, incoming fax can be rerouted to other printers in the hotel. Also, this reduced the human involvement as “fax operator” and “bell staff”.

- Efficiency: different techniques of Wiztech’s “driverless printers”, overpowered the “industrial strength” machines. It improved quality and quantity of ‘paper per minute’. Integrity between two processes scanning and printing will also improve with this substitute.

- Cost: although the substitute is expensive, as I already mentioned, customers at Royal Hotel are more concerned about quality and small increase in cost will not affect them.

ALTERNATIVE ANALYSIS

As this case is about infrastructural transition in a business, which is based on information technology, I’ll refer to triangle which has three nodes namely People, Process and Technology.

The above figure of triad gives an outline of factors on which changes in a business rely. Considering the case of Royal Hotel, the data to be given as input may include detail of customers like their frequency of stay, time period of stay and their usage of fax machine at hotel.

Further, three aspects to be considered may include:

- People- This term in a project include employees at various levels and customers. The edge between people and process states collaboration. This refers to the understanding of the complete transitional phase, by the employees and their contribution to that process.

Secondly, edge between people and technology represents analysis. This is about thorough study of automated tasks or improvement in organization’s functionality. This helps in retaining skilled employees.

- Process- These may include installation process, data security, its protection and availability and risk management activities. Process also include operating systems, databases and applications.

The edge between process and technology refers to automation. While installing new device, in should be ensured that technology supports the process. It should be capable of removing repetitive and tedious tasks.

- Technology- Now, technology may include physical, technical or logical setups. It is important that new technology does not make vast changes in present infrastructure. As this may raise complexities for current operational setups, configurations and employees.

CONCLUSION

I will conclude this study with brief description of procedure and outcomes. As the Royal Hotel is a luxurious hotel, used mostly for business purpose, IT department require intense analysis of these customers. Further, they need to consider infrastructure of the hotel which includes employees. From my point of view, the hotel should switch to WizTech’s “driverless machines”, as it can be a big asset for their business. Secondly, if somehow, this change affects the infrastructure or customers (may be they don’t will to pay more), hotel shoul continue with Canon’s “industrial strength” fax machines.

This triangle of people, process and technology, results in synergy; a successful implementation of new technology, without affecting related entities. By this method, people can collaborate effectively and efficiently, which gives fruitful outcomes.
