Another noteworthy organization is Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions. It is an organization associating the best visitors attractions in Scotland. It consists of 450 members all over the country. Members are required to maintain the highest possible standards.
British Hospitality Association is a body that represents all sections of hospitality. It calls itself the voice of the UK hospitality industry. The organization supports hotels, restaurants, catering establishments and holiday attractions. BHA cooperates with government, media and the general public in order to keep the high standards of the industry.
There is a few voluntary organizations that support travel and tourism. They usually operate locally, but also have significant influence on the industry. Probably the most popular in Scotland is the National Trust for Scotland. It is independent non-profit organization working in Scotland. It is dedicated to the protection and promotion of natural and cultural heritage of Scotland. NTS was founded in 1931. The organization performs a similar function as the National Trust - an institution which operates in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. National Trust for Scotland manages more than 127 properties and the area of 180 000 acres- castles, ancient houses, historical sites, gardens and remote rural areas.
The other popular voluntary organisation I would like to introduce is Travel and Tourism Research Association. It is a non-profit international association that works to rise the powerfulness of research in such sectors like: tourism, planning and development. It facilitates access to numerous sources of information, trains in carrying market research and planning. The association also boost development of tourism research.
There are a number of international organizations supporting tourism. I would like to introduce two of them and discuss their role.
United Nations World Tourism Organization- was set up in 1975. It is one of the most important international organizations. UNWTO plays an important role in promoting the development of responsible tourism. The organization supports the implementation of a global code of ethics for tourism. UNWTO organises International Conferences and Seminars, formulates training programs and takes a part in tourism projects.
World Travel and Tourism Council- it is an organization that operates in order to increase an awareness of importance of Travel and Tourism industry. On the official website of the organization we can find following information: The Council regularly sets Strategic Priorities with a view to identifying those issues which most impede the operation or development of the sector.
To sum up, tourism is very important industry that may bring lots of money to a country. Government in the UK is aware of the importance of the sector and supports it, because it brings many benefits to the economy. There are various organisations that support tourism: private, public and voluntary. Tourism creates job places, that’s why it should be constantly being expanded and improved.
