to combat addiction is to not let it become an addiction i the first place.

Since the world is marching towards an automated future, raising children to be computer literate is a necessity, regardless of its effects. However, it is important to prevent the next generation of leaders from being single sided, only being able to complete virtual tasks. This may seem like a difficult challenge, but the solution is simple. It is up to a child’s parents to set limits on the use of technology. There are several methods to monitor and moderate the internet use of children. Since tech was designed to make lives easier, there are features and apps that help curb technology misuse and overuse. Certain devices have “kid modes” which provide wholesome fun for a child, others allow parents to set time limits on internet usage (Summers). Technology is no lucifer, neither is it a god. The world wide web connects us all, but the lack of verbal interaction it creates makes us more isolated than ever. it’s main goal is to simplify life, but it creates an entirely new set of problems to be dealt with.We should not allow what we made to better our lives change the very essence of them. When technology becomes the problem, we can turn to technology to fix it, but then again no app can compare to turning the screen off and going outside. Tech should be used as an aid to the raising of a child, not a method of it.
