Many people will argue that we as citizens have the right to privacy. Many will point to the fourth amendment which was paraphrased to “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.” (Paul, Kibbe and Cuccinelli). The overall backlash of the Snowden reveal is that people are worried about their constitutional rights being broken and less worried with the content of the data collected.

The NSA may be infringing on the privacy of United States citizens but it is only to protect those same citizens. People will say that it’s their right to have their own private info or that the government hides information from the public so “why can't we hide information from them?” The government is trying to protect 318.9 million and if that means breaking the privacy of a couple hundred or thousand that should be with okay with people. Also, if someone has nothing to hide this shouldn't be a problem. The NSA and the Patriot Act is a good thing; they are trying to protect the everyday citizens of this great country.
