The Illinois fourth district appellate court is where a verdict from the state of Illinois trial will appeal. Now in the state of Illinois there are several steps to take when filing an appeal. Filing the appeal 30 days after the final order entered; you must serve a copy of the filed appeal to all parties involved and you must show proof to the filing court of the appellate court stating that you have notified and/or serve all parties involved (Illinois Supreme Court Rules, n.d.).

The State of Illinois requires that a person who is willing to appeal a case within appellate court must provide proof of court erred. In conjunction with proven ones, right that person is responsible for all cost that applies in their case. The Supreme Court also requires that all appeals comply with the rules of the Supreme Court.

There are eight things to consider within the state of Illinois appellate court when prosecuting your appeal; service, notice of appeal, docketing of statement, record on appeal, motions, briefs, petition of hearing and petition for leave to appeal to the Illinois supreme court (State of Illinois Fourth District Appellate Court, n.d.). These are all things that is required of a proper appeal case in the state of Illinois.

The verdict from a federal trial court can appeal in a federal court. Many cases within the federal court are civil cases rather than criminal, same as for appeals. For example, if an environmental company decides to give a permit to a highly intoxicated factory to build next to a community that has elderly and family residents, the residents can ask federal court to review the decisions of that agency. Agencies actions reviewed by court of appeals and not district courts as in some areas.

The highest court in the nation is the United States Supreme Court. Although the U.S. Supreme court is the nation highest court decisions cannot be appealed to any other court. The supreme court is considered appellate court, but within the constitution the supreme court original jurisdiction in cases involving ambassadors, foreign public ministries and cases involving two different states (Pfander, 1994). The supreme court can only have original jurisdiction over a criminal case only if it involves a crime brought by another state against the united states.

In closing having rights and knowing your rights is a great part of life, meaning to say you cannot be made a fool out of or be convicted of something you did not do because whether you guilty or innocent you have rights and within those rights you can appeal.
