The tropical grasslands soil is less rich because nutrients are removed by occasional heavy rain.

Tropical Rainforest- These rainforests cover most of northern south america, Central America, Central Africa and southeast Asia. Rainfall is around 250 centimetres annually. Temperature is 20-25 degrees year round. The soil is poor because heavy rain washes minerals away. The forest floor is very dark which limits plant growth. Tall trees, shrubs and vines are some examples of vegetation in this biome. Also animals such as jaguars and parrots can be found in this biome.

Desert (hot and cold)- Hot deserts are found on every continent. Cold deserts are only found in dryer regions such as central Asia and Argentina. In hot deserts the rainfall is less than 25 centimetres with hot days averaging 38 degrees and cold nights averaging 7 degrees. In cold deserts the rainfall is also less than 25 centimetres annually with summer days averaging 21-26 degrees and winter days averaging -2 to 4 degrees. In hot deserts the soil is usually salty because the minerals do not get washed away, The plant life in hot deserts is very limited spiny cacti grow in the hot desert animals that locate the hot desert are reptiles, toads and scorpions. The cold desert the soil is often salty and little water erosion occurs. Foxes ,coyotes and jackrabbits locate the cold desert.

Permanent Ice- This biome is located in the arctic, greenland and antarctica. The annual precipitation is lees then 25 centimetres. Antarctica has a recorded temperature of -89 degrees. Average arctic Temperature for winter is -30 degrees. Average arctic summer temperatures range from 3 to 14 degrees. This biome has very strong winds and little soil, little fresh water is available because of freezing conditions. Lichens row in this biome because they can tolerate drought and cold. Some examples of animals that locate this biome are polar bears, arctic foxes, and penguins.
