At around 1:00 in the morning, Stevens was taken to the Benghazi Medical Center in a private car as there was no ambulance to carry him. There, he was administered CPR for 90 minutes by a doctor. Unfortunately, Stevens died from asphyxiation caused by smoke inhalation, and had no other apparent injuries. Along with Ambassador Stevens, two CIA operatives Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods, and Information Officer Sean Smith had passed away, too.

Now, after this whole attack was over with, people started questioning where the Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, was during all of this. They started to wonder if she had something to do with what was going on hence the fact she did nothing about it. All things considered, beside being the Secretary of State, she later took blame for the liability for the security at the compound, or rather, a deficiency in that department. "I’m in charge of the State Department’s 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts," Clinton stated in a news interview with CNN. "The president and the vice president wouldn’t be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals. They’re the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs, and make a considered decision."

Clinton was secretary of state at the season of the assaults.
