On the second page of my advertisement, I show the couple separated. I placed the woman still in a gloomy setting, while the man is in color indicating how there was a big change from back then until now. The woman is still carrying society’s clothing on her skin, while the man is dressed in Solo Hop’s clothing that has a hip-hop style. Viewers can see that the man’s face appears to be in high spirits, unbound, and seems to be his true self by obtaining Solo Hop’s product, while the woman’s face is feeling heartbroken still in a black, gray, and white setting. As a result of the images, colors, and positions, I shown an emotional attachment for the product by making the consumer believe that buying this clothing, they will obtain freedom and ecstasy. Even though the clothing and facial expressions plays an important, the marionette’s strings on them (the couple) gave a more visual understanding.
In addition to being controlled by society, I added one marionette over the man and woman suggesting how the couple on the first page are manipulated by the phrase “media‘s eye-candy.” While creating this advertisement, I place another pair of marionettes above them once again on the second page, but they are different. On the second page, the marionette above the woman is still attacked to her, but the man’s marionette in no longer attacked to him while the strings are cut off and falling around him. A quote from Giordanom said it perfectly, “People should be free of pressure to look, act, behave, and think a certain way. People should learn how to better themselves, but at the same time be okay with themselves” (1). I did this quote relates to the imagery with the marionettes to demonstrate how the woman would still rely on society’s movement of becoming an identical collection of dolls instead of breaking from this robotic act. As this success of creating an advertisement explaining society’s approval is wrapping up, one can truly identify how my advertisement worked.
Generally speaking, my advertisement revealed whom or what is controlling individuals to pleases society’s movement of showing how beauty or handsome can only be obtained by a certain look or dress attire. My advertisement helps others become themselves rather than being placed into a box of similarities.
