Overall, Gladwell successfully appeals to the audience’s logos and ethos in order to persuade his readers into his way of thinking. In this case, Gladwell’s way of thinking is his central claim about how culture powerfully influences one’s ability to succeed, but it still within the individual's power to go against the cultural legacies. Similarly to Korean Air overcoming its cultural fallacy of an authoritarian culture to ultimately become successful, another example of people overcoming their cultural disadvantages is pop music singer, Rebecca Marie Gomez, also known as Becky G. Coming from a disadvantaged background, for instance both parents losing their jobs and living in a small garage, motived Rebecca at a young age to pursue and grow her singing/songwriting talent, in order to bring her family out of poverty. Seeing how the culture of poverty was affecting her family, motivated Rebecca to perfect and create a career out of her talent. This demonstrates how believable Gladwell’s argument over cultural legacies may be, because many different peoples of different cultures, from airlines to pop singers, have been pushed and motived to improve themselves in order to overcome cultural challenges and ultimately attain success.
