The Daoists followed the idea of untangling the knots of life, blunting the sharp edges of relationships and problems, and turning down the light on painful occurrences. They disagreed with human discrimination within the law, morality, and ethics and wanted people to act naturally not willfully. Although they had differences in many areas and similarities in few, Confucianism and Daoism had the ability of coexisting in China.

Although Confucianism and Daoism have similarities that focus on their belief in authentic ideas, they have residing differences in how they structured their social class and bureaucratic political systems during classical China. Over the course of approximately 2,000 years, Confucianism and Daoism began to surface with a very influential impact. They both focused on realistic ideas that fit their belief systems. However, they had differences in things such as their social classes and political systems. Confucianism focused on a caste system while Daoism was focused on becoming with nature. They were also different in the aspect of how they interpreted life. Confucianism focused on structure and divine order while Daoism focused on unraveling life problems and terminating human discrimination.
