As I was leaving one of my never ending therapist visits I noticed a vase full of Calla Lilies on a table. Seeing these flowers took me back to one of the countless nights my Blondie and I spent fantasizing about our senior prom. At that moment I knew what I needed to do in order to help my heart mend a tiny piece of the huge hole that this tragedy brought upon me.

I spent the next few days preparing for senior prom. The first place I visited was the florist where I picked out the most beautiful corsage that encompassed nothing but my Blondie’s favorite flower… the Calla Lily. I then found a dress that would have been suitable for my Blondie. Prom night came and I went in her honor. I had a nice time knowing that my Blondie was there with me in spirit.

The next morning I found myself standing over the spot where my Blondie’s body will forevermore rest in peace. My hands held the gown and corsage that I wore the night before. I gently placed both items upon her stone monument and started talking to her like old times.

Oh… if I only had one more day to spend with my Blondie. I would start by giving her a huge hug a letting her know that I love her always. We would then go to Wawa and get a French Vanilla Cappuccino with all the fixings! With cup in hand we would head to the spa where we would be primped from head to toe. Our hair, make-up, fingers and toes would be prom ready. Next door to the spa is the “Beverly Hills” of New Jersey where we would find those perfect gowns. The florist would be our next stop. This is where we would pick out the most beautiful, prom appropriate, corsages overflowing with nothing but Calla Lilies. Our final stop would be the ballroom where we would dance as if no one were watching, sing as if no one were listening, and live our prom together the way we had planned it so very long ago.

My Blondie, my best friend, my twin… If ever granted the opportunity to meet your compatible twin make sure you live every moment as if it were your last. For God is the only one who truly knows when the last will be.
