As a conclusion, it is needless to say that both groups present quite sound arguments but we mostly agree with the second one, due to the fact that we are strongly convinced that hard work alone doesn’t guarantee success.

GROUP 3

Hard work is the Price we must pay for Success

Some people claim that to achieve a goal, hard work is enough. Nevertheless, other group believes that hard work is only the tip of the iceberg and that there’s more to it than the eyes can see.

On the one hand, the first group claims that hard work is the price we must pay for success. These people also point out other advantages brought about by hard work. Firstly they argue that in this journey of hard work you learn how to exploit experience to your own benefit. That experience together with knowledge in your field will make you feel comfortable to solve difficult situations. Besides, this almost perfect combination of experience and knowledge will earn you the respect of your colleagues.

On the other hand, the second group believes that success is the complete mixture of at least four aspects apart from hard work. To begin with, if you want to be a successful person and to reach your goal, sound academic foundation is necessary. It is going to provide you not only with the tools but also the skills to be successful in your field. In addition to that, these people state that you also need good luck to succeed; that is, being in the right place at the right time. Another point this group considers important is family support. This helps you to persist, to feel more confident and not to give up. In short, to persevere which is essential to succeed.

To sum up, all in all we believe that the richest and most useful part of success is the journey itself. It is during that time that hard work becomes meaningful and knowledge is appreciated. As Cervantes stated “the journey is better than the end”.
