When asking my mother how she envisioned my life the best way to describe it is by cheering for a proud daughter walking across the stage getting her degree, and before she can get off the stage the mother has to pause before losing her voice. Her smile stretches from ear to ear, eyes glistening from the tears awaiting to slide down her face. Although she did not give me a straightforward answer she did indeed give me an answer. From her response and the look on her face my mother told me she envisions my life by what it is that makes me happy. For she knows that I take my education very seriously but also knows that it is up to me to decide what it is that I will do with that degree. No matter the outcome as long as I am prosperous in whatever it is that my future holds I know she will be proud. She assured me that the lessons she has taught me along the way about self- motivation, positive intuition and self-help will guide me all of my life.

By her letting me go out and party, hang with my friends at the movies and indulge in a high school sweetheart relationship she instilled in me the meaning of responsibility, maturity, and adulthood. The freedom that she did give me illustrated her way of disciplining me into the young woman that I am today. Through her ways of discipline, I gained experiences and learned lessons that I can use in becoming the young woman that my mother and I envisioned.

The number one rule in my family is quitters never win. No matter how hard school may get or how much I may feel like giving up I remember it is up to me to keep the dream alive. Although my mother is a very successful woman I want to do better than she did. This is how I ultimately believe she envisions my life. However, if my mother did have something different in mind I would not try to conform my dreams to fit hers. The strong minded, independent woman that she raised has developed a mind of her own and a vision that she plans to prosper in.

Over time although my dream of prosperity remained the same I continue to push myself to achieve the impossible. Meaning I do not want to settle on just being prosperous but live a life that continues to make me work hard for everything that I receive.
