between Beowulf and The 13th Warrior there’s different religions in each. In Beowulf the Monks inserted Christian interpolations to sneak their religious beliefs into the story. Now in The 13th Warrior, the religion is much different. Instead of Christian interpolations they have inserted Muslim interpolations. Meaning they have placed Muslim religious beliefs throughout the movie.

At the end of both the story and the movie, the two heros died in honor. Beowulf was the king and when he died, they honored his death and in memory of him they built a light tower on top of his grave. When Beowulf died, he wasn’t a king, but king Hrothgar said they would bury him as a king, and so they did.

In conclusion, the story Beowulf and the movie The 13th Warrior, which is based on the story Beowulf, has many comparisons, from the monsters each group fights, both monsters being cannibales, and both men dying in honor of what they did. Now the story and movie also had their contrasts, for instance the story had Christian interpolations while the movie had Muslim interpolations, in Beowulf he fought a single monster and in The 13th Warrior he fought a tribe of people acting like monsters, also before the fight started Beowulf and his men drank and partied before they fought Grendel and Beowuf and his men lay in a circle with their weapons waiting for the fight to happen. Either way no matter what you read and then compare it to a movie you will find similarities and differences.
