and Mrs. Roger wasn’t a hard things to do. Initially, Vera acted as a level headed person to cover up everyone’s eyes. Later on she secretly put the poison into Marston’s drink and sneaked into Mrs. Roger’s room to kill them without anyone’s suspicion. As easy as a pie, Vera returned to her room and acted like nothing ever happened. As to General MacArthur, I have no doubt to claim that Vera cruelly killed this man. Before the General died, Vera was the last one with him. She pretended to come and talk to him but she just wanted to make sure General didn’t put up his guard so she could kill him easily. The timing was just perfect, everything fell into place, without any great force, Vera hit the General on the back of his head from behind. If the General were more alert toward the recent deaths instead of walking out by the sea all alone, he could have avoided his own dead. The obvious evidence to prove she was the killer was when she came to the dinner late with a nervous and rushed reaction toward everybody. It was not natural to feel afraid like that when nothing terrible happened to her unless she herself did something guilty. Coming to the fourth victim, Mr Roger, Vera could have easily killed him since she was an athletic type of person. At this point, if Mr. Roger stopped doing his job and hiding himself in the house, his horrified death wouldn’t have occur. When Roger’s corpse was discovered, Vera began laughing hysterically and asked whether bees were kept on the island, foreshadowing the next part of the poem. Vera seemed to be understanding and fascinated with the Indians’ poem, that was the reason why she picked that to demonstrate everyone’s death. Then comes the death of Brent Emily, being poisoned by a cyanide syringe and stung by a bee. The fact that Vera was with Brent all the time had exposed Vera’s crime. Similar to the method of how she secretly put the poison into Marson’s cup, Vera acted innocent and distracted others when murdering Brent. If only Miss. Brent could be more cautious after seeing the other death caused by poison, she would still be alive. As for Lawrence Wargrave, Doctor Armstrong, and William Blore, killing them was very simple. With her caution, she conveniently murdered three of them. She first distracted everyone by deceiving them with her fake attack. Then, she told them that she didn’t have the guts to go back to the house because she didn’t want them to think she committed the murder. What a perfect way to divert others’ attention away from her crime scene! For the last victim, she put on one final act of femininity to kill Philip Lombard face to face by using his own gun. She blasted her last shot with the slightest shred of mercy on him. In this situation, Lombard himself had the gun in his pocket, his opportunity to save his life was quite huge. He just needed to have a little discretion and his life would have been saved. Vera was absolutely a cold, deadly and ruthless monster. Vera was an excellent performer until the very end. Ultimately, the tragedy came to its final point. Nevertheless, feeling the measure of Vera’s guilt on her shoulders, she eventually hung herself on Indian Island. Vera had finished what she started all along. Everyone who executes a crime but then runs away from it, sooner or later will have to pay the price, their own death.
