Who Am I?

My name is Simon Calderón, I am 16 years old and I live in Bogota (Colombia), as you know this is one of the worst and difficult ages because is the beginning of a teenager-adult life and of course I´m not the only one that is going through this stage of our life, that’s why we ask a lot of questions like Who Am I? or what is the propose of my life? What does my name mean? And on this essay I will try to find the answer for all this questions based on my life, my experiences, thoughts as a teenager, and my feelings. So, let’s start from the begging by finding out the meaning of my name.

I’ve been looking for the meaning of mi name “Simon” and I never thought that its real meaning was so different from what I thought it was, what I found is that this name has a Hebrew origin and it means “he has heard” and it means the he heard Jesus and god, but this is the religious definition, it also has some other characteristics. When you are named Simon, you are an independent guy, also a very sociable man and in constant movement. Apparently, however, on an emotional level Simon needs someone's company to be stable, He feels comfortable doing what he wants, when he wants and as he wants. And I know it will sound funny but it kind of what I am because since I was young, I’ve always dreamed about having my own house with my own rules and doing what I want (of course being responsible) and being happy with a nice girl with nice sons, this doesn’t mean that I don’t love my family, but I prefer not to depend on anyone and make my life, not that others do it to me. That is why I think that my parents called me Simon, but there is another reason and it is because 3 days before my born, my Great grandfather died and his name was Simon but of course I don’t remember this event, what I do remember of my childhood we will see it soon.

Some of my earlies memories from my childhood are clearly as the water to describe. I remember perfectly the separation of my parent when I was 5 years old, we lived in “tabio” a town near Bogota, I remember that we had two dogs and a little green bird called Rebeca ¡she was so funny! But there was a stage were my parent were fighting a lot and one day my mom told me that my dad wasn’t going to live any more with us and I couldn’t understand why, this is one of my worst memories, but not everything is bad because after this situation my mom start developing a very big company and she had a lot of success with this project and our lives got better, we star traveling and forging a close relationship that we still have, I also saw a lot with my dad and we did some cool staff between him and me. My dad is a creative guy, he doesn’t need money to make you happy and this is because of his nice personality of “paisa” (a person from Manizales).

So, we already talked a lot about my dad’s personality and his nationality (Manizales, Colombia) but, what about my mother and me! My mother was born in Bogotá Colombia, but all her family is from Manizales also, but, because of work they had to move to Bogota and start adopting the new traditions, of course they never lost their own traditions like eating all typical food from their city like “bandeja paisa” and other stuff. Talking about me, I’m also born in Bogotá Colombia, but I love Manizales because of their way of thinking, they like working hard, they are exigent people and they never have sloth to do something and that is why I like having a social circle that contribute something god in to my life.

Let’s describe a little bit more my social circle. The most important people in my life is my family, but, I have two types of family; 1) the natural family my mom, my dad, my brother, my grandmother, my stepdad, my dog, etc.…, all of this people have influenced me all my life because they are always making me go to the right way
