We experience change every day in our lives – whether it may be change in food, change in clothes, change in route going to office or even change in hairstyle. These changes may vary from person to person, it may impact them negatively or positively and it all boils down on how people react to change and how they respond to it. Change is evident not only in our everyday lives, but as well as to companies. Take the case of Apple, it is one of the innovative companies worldwide which offers variety to its customers’ changing preferences when it comes to not only cell phones but as well as laptops. Apple is a very well-run company along with its long-term potential in the industry. And as of 2016, it is first time for almost 13 years that Apple experienced decrease in their revenue, which is a change for them. But this change did not hinder them perform further and be better in the industry. They took this change positively and did not see it as a threat. Apple believes that their competitive advantage is their size and their overall profit is equal to combined profits of Facebook, Google, Amazon and Microsoft. Apple makes every person’s technological experience as good as it possibly can be. Though they did not introduce the first smartphone or even the first tablet ever invented, but it is not about being the first, it is about doing it better and doing it better overtime.
The same applies with our lives, it is not being the first to find the cheese, based on the story, it is about picking yourself up when life knocks you down and learning to be better and do better overtime. In life, we tend to take everything for granted and let the boat sail us everywhere without direction. But we are the captain of our ship and in order to arrive at our destination – goals in life – we need plan, strategies, perseverance and to exert effort to pass through challenges that may occur that will shake our foundation. Every day is a chance to improve ourselves, just like what Haw did in the story. He realized that change may be an opportunity for him to find new cheese and adopt to changes as quickly as possible. He had some obstacles in his path, but did not let these stop him in searching for new cheese he wanted so badly. And achieving your goals, or finding that new cheese, is the most satisfying and delightful moment you will ever experience.
