Detecting the early signs of cancer is important. Some such signs are weight loss, seeing a lot of blood, pain burning inside, changes in the skin, chest and throat problems, hair fall, and indigestion. Also experiencing lack of appetite, fevers, or difficulty in breathing are the most common signs to look for.
Cancer is a very common disease. Over 153000 types of cancer has been discovered. Some of them are breast, prostate, bone, ovarian, lung, brain cancer and many more. Being diagnosed with cancer is the worst scenario one could possibly imagine. Patients diagnosed with cancer have a hard time, going through those surgeries and medications.
But the survivors of cancer have learned a valuable lesson for their lives. They continued to live and some volunteer their time to help current cancer patients, striving to battle this disease.
Life after cancer for the non-survivors is an emotional time for their families. These families lost one of their loved ones. While the survivor of cancer have a long path ahead of them, they will start a new life with a better lifestyle and will remember how lucky they are. It’s a start of a new life for everyone.
As we all know preventing cancer is a very important part of living well. So we should always remember to eat healthy food, having the right diet, avoid smoking and also to advice people who smoke, staying away from harmful chemicals, and eating high fibre food are things every one of us as individuals can do to minimize the risk of having cancer. And remember “an ounce of prevention is quart of a cure”.
Last but not the least I would like to thank rev. sis. Alexandra Mendis for inviting me to make this event a success. And thank all of you my dear sisters, teachers and children for listening attentively and helping me to make this event a memorable one.
