STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

  1. Government can expand the halal tourism spot across NTB and increase the certification for halal hotels and restaurants. In my opinion, government also can increase the halal tourism spot not only around natural destinations but they can also expand it in the city. Nevertheless, government must always introduce the halal tourism destination to other country that has many Muslim living there. However the government must maintain the good reputation as a Halal tourism destination.

  1. SWOT

Strength:

  • NTB has potential variety to become one of the strategic halal tourism destination because NTB has a beautiful natural tourist attraction, as well as the typical culture of NTB, and the Islamic keynote values are thick in the area.
  • Before win and famous as a halal tourism spot, NTB already has a nickname as “1000 mosques” in Indonesia. It can be easier for NTB to increase number of Muslim tourists to visit NTB.
  • After become halal tourism spot, many hotels, travel agents, restaurants, and spa get a halal certification. It means people become aware to provide halal foods and services for Muslim.
  • Majority of the population there are Muslim.

Weakness:

  • The human resources are not ready yet. However the government has a target to gains more the human resources and provides jobs for locals.
  • Some of the destinations are not ready yet in facilities and infrastructure, for example the road. Some of tourists are hard to reach the destination because of the road.
  • Some of non-Muslim tourists complain during visiting NTB because they cannot easily get alcohol drinks and also cannot sunbathe on the beaches like in Bali.

Opportunity:

  • Indonesia is a largest Muslim country in the world and has many natural tourism destinations to attract Muslim tourists around the world.
  • The attraction of NTB as a halal tourism spot is an opportunity for the industrial sector to improve the economy of local people.

Treats:

  • Indonesia tends to be late with the concept of halal tourism because other countries have implemented halal tourism concept.

  1. Strategies:
  1. Expand more halal tourism destination across NTB and empower the human resources.
  2. Introduce the halal tourism destination of NTB around the world, especially to the country who has many Muslim living there.
  3. Build facilities and infrastructures to keep the satisfying of the tourists.
  1. Strategies:
  1. Government can start to empower and provide jobs for locals.
  2. The manager can still divide between Muslim and non-Muslim services. For example for non-Muslim tourists can still get alcohol and pork.
  3. Build facilities and infrastructures around NTB especially in tourism spot to make the tourists easily reach the destinations, because some of the destinations still hard to reach and has bad roads.
  1. Sumbawa honey is very famous for its benefits. It’s already export to other country such as Taiwan.

Sasak/songket cloth (kain sasak/songket) that is very famous from NTB. This cloth is very silky and smooth. It has big value as a souvenirs and valuable arts from NTB.
