We can conclude that there is a possibility of a discount since we showed that you gain in money and time for three batches. We can imagine for example a discount of 10 percent since we have a gain by making two batches and even more by making three batches. (2 points)
- If we look at the process we can see that the cycle time of the process is 10 minutes and each tray is occupied during 19 minutes which is a lot more that the cycle time. So it would increase facility of the process if they bought another tray. There will be trays that will need to wait but it would be a shame to let the bottleneck which is the oven empty because they need to wait on tray. A good point about trays is that they are cheap so it really wouldn’t hurt to buy a third. The food processor stays dormant for long periods of time so it wouldn’t really be opportune to buy another. - To increase capacity of the process, they need to increase the capacity of the bottleneck, which has a capacity of 6 batches an hour. By adding a second oven we’ll increase the capacity to 12 batches an hour.
We can increase the capacity by adding another oven. We should use analytic computability to analyze the cost we are prepared to put in buying another oven. If we buy a second oven, the oven will still be the bottleneck (we can analyze the cost for a third but we also need to know if there is the place in the apartment). When buying a second oven, we need to recalculate the best process to speed up the flow-time of the process.
