Regarding to the late introduction of their online store was because at these times (around 2009), it was very complex managing “fast-clothing collections online”. As it is said in the case, “there had been some concern that Inditex was falling behind competitors on e-commerce” but they were in a declining situation[2] and not until their recovering, in 2011, they launched their online store.

- Briefly describe five opportunities for continued growth during the next five years for Zara’s parent, Inditex, S.A.

- Reinforce the growth of the online market in United States

- Improve their sales and year’s promotion in each of the countries.

- Expansion to Asia

- Renew frequently their online store, adapting it to the trends on the moment and to each of their customer’s segment.

- Start introducing the “shopping experience” concept in their stores.

- Pick one of these opportunities and outline the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing it.

Advantages:

- Differentiate themselves more from their competitors as any of tem had developed this yet.

- Attract more each of their customers, creating a Zara style self-recognition

- Increase their image appreciation via social networks (Instagram and Facebook)

- Promotion their new arrivals with bloggers and famous people.

Disadvantages:

- Very difficult to manage. Not only they have to pay attention to each of the countries’ trends, but also each of the customer styles involved. Style and fashion is constantly changing and is difficult to determine for a certain group of customers

- Huge platform investment

- Take a look at its new US website. What is good and what is bad about it?

US website has different clothing collections adapted to the US style, different from the Spanish one. This demonstrates how Zara adapts their business depending on the country is targeted.

It has also included a search engine and a wide filter so it makes easier for the customer its selection.

Maybe the only “bad thing” about the US website is that it haven’t renewed it. That’s why I recommend the opportunity I’ve mentioned before.
