Regional rebellions in Indonesia in 1950s promoted and triggered the revolution for dependence. After the surrender of Japan, some colonial empires, such as Britain, France and US divided the areas of colonial rule respectively. These colonial powers carved up the territory of Indonesia and seized illegitimate interest in Indonesia. To maintain local interest and protect local liberty, over 6 local powers in Indonesia held regional rebellions in from 1950 to 1955 (Pauker, 1969, pp. 1-60). Although these rebellions could not repeal colonists completely, these rebellions disrupted expected plans of colonists. These rebellions also demonstrated that people from different areas of Indonesia hoped to realize national independence and establish unified regimes (Pauker, 1969, pp. 1-60). Regional rebellions accumulated available basis for national revolution and their failures have raised the demand for national revolution.
